A quick but captivating read. Mary shares an intimate deep dive into her life, highlighting that sometimes what you see on the surface doesn’t reflect reality. I would recommend this book to anyone, a story of real-life resilience and raw emotion. Proceeds from “Being Mary” will go to Verspeeten Family Cancer Centre.

Mary writes her story with a discerning wit. She is eloquent and engaging writing about her life, questioning, and excepting all the events that have brought her to today. This is a story that anyone can relate to, and it is validating to read experiences that transcend more than just one generation. I really enjoyed reading this!!

Having known Mary Johnson VanDenBerge for 50 years, I was eager to dive into her book, “Being Mary.” Through the pages, I discovered a depth to her life that I had never fully appreciated. This memoir is not just a recounting of her experiences; it’s an inspiring testament to resilience that speaks to women facing similar challenges in their lives.

This is the compelling story of Mary’s silent struggles with marriage, motherhood, family and faith. I found it fascinating and inspiring. May it serve as a guide to survivors hoping to find their own voice.
